As we are beginning the Life Journals and reading through the Bible together there are a number of common things that at some point we will probably all experience. One of them is coming to a passage of Scripture that we don't understand or just wonder why it is even in the Bible. When you come to a passage like this, if you have time, then spend time thinking and praying about it asking God what it means and what it might mean to you. You can do some research online using sites like www.biblegateway.org and www.studylight.org or bring it up for discussion on the Mount Hope forum. But, often we will not have time to do this for every passage with which we struggle. I have found that often a passage I did not understand at one point in my life when I go back to read it later it makes sense to me and even applies to my life. So sometimes we need to just keep reading and trust that God will bring us the understanding when we need it. Also, and this is a big one, if I am honest with myself I have to admit that there are plenty of things in Scripture that I DO understand that are a challenge for me to live out in my life. It might be that I need to spend my time focusing on those things I do understand and not allow myself to get too distracted by the things I do not understand right now.
