"Horton Hears a Who" is a fun kids movie with an intersting message. Dr. Seus' character Horton is an elephant who discovers a whole world of "whos" living on a tiny speck on a flower. Their whole world of houses, families, buildings, and parks is contained on one single speck in Horton's world. At one point a doubting kangaroo [who talks to an elephant who also talks] scoffs at the idea that there are tiny people living on a speck on a flower. To which Horton puts forth the hypothesis that maybe there are giant people out there and our world is simply a speck in their world, how could we know? I think both are true, we are small in comparison to even the known universe, and there are many smaller worlds contained within ours that our actions influence. So we are probably not as important as we think we are, and yet we may very well be extremely important to someone else's world.
