Theron & Aldonna Roush:
We worked in the city of Medellin in the Andean Region of Colombia South America. We have always worked out of the capital cities and from there reach out to the towns and villages. We reach all economic groups and racial groups as we minister in cell groups, out door campaigns and personal evangelism. Our MAIN ministry over the years has been in Church Planting and in our 35 years in Colombia have started or helped to start over 100 churches. We have also worked in Bible Institute and Radio Ministry. Brother Roush has served as National Presbyter, District Superintendent as well as vocal at different times in our career.
God has been faithful to back our ministry and the churches we have started by being faithful to supply the needs both of the church, its pastors and we, His servants.
We have always had Bible Institute training for those who desire it. The training in the Institute is a little different in that our pastors usually pastor and study at the same time and also we have "Intensive Studies" in which the pastor leaves his church for 1 month to dedicate himself to study so he can progress faster. What we have been doing the last few years is holding church planting seminars "BOOT CAMPS" which is also an intensive course for pastors starting or wanting to start a new church. It teaches them how to go about it and gives them tools to work with. They work in teams and plan out the first year leading up to the opening of the church, so that when it opens, they are known in the town, know people, and have their meeting place in order, music in place and teachers ready. We have had tremendous success with these seminars and most of the churches we have started this way have been self supporting in about a year.
We usually help new works by paying the rent on the building for 1 year, we give them 50 chairs, a black board and tripod, a small amplifier and microphone and a pulpit. Through the District we help the pastor with a small offering until the church is able to take on that responsibility. Then we gradually take away the help and use that money to start other works. Since arriving in February, we have already started 5 new churches and held 2 church planting "Boot Camps." The new churches should start their first daughter church within the first 2 years.
Please pray with us for these new works. There are more places to work than we have workers. "Pray Ye Therefore the Lord of the Harvest that He send forth Laborers into the harvest.
