Gregg & Rita Detwiler (Emmanuel Gospel Center):

I, Gregg, am a missionary to and with immigrants, refugees, and internationals in Greater Boston and beyond. I relate to many different ethnic groups including but not limited to Africans, Brazilians, Cambodians, and Indians.

Much of my work involves leadership development, building the capacity of indigenous Christian movements in and out of Greater Boston, and equipping the American church to know how to work with Diaspora Christian movements. My work takes many forms such as teaching a Cambodian Evangelism course or leading an Inner City Ministry course for Gordon Conwell Seminary. Courses such as these provide opportunities to relate to and nurture ministry development among many Diaspora people groups, including those reaching out to Buddhists, Hindus, and Jews. I also provide guidance to local churches, denominations, and Christian organizations in learning how to engage in Diaspora ministry and multicultural ministry.

One recent example of God’s glory being displayed was in the publishing and telling of Cambodian testimonies of their journey from the Killing Fields of Cambodia to the United States and from the unknown god of Buddhism to a personal saving encounter with Jesus Christ! Many of these Cambodian friends are reaching out to fellow Cambodians, to Americans, and even back to their motherland of Cambodia!

1. Please pray for:
2. For Kingdom dreams to developed in and through the students in the upcoming spring term of the Inner City course
3. For success in a research project we are undertaking on effective ministry models to the second generation” of ethnic church movements and multicultural youth ministry, which represents moving from ethnic enclaves to a cross-cultural mission movements.
4. For effective strategy in nurturing the bonds of unity and healthy ministry practices among Cambodian leaders and churches.
5. For effective missions bridges to be established from Boston’s Diaspora movements to the ends of the earth!
