Nanan & Chris Joehana-Coughlin (Globe International/Cultural Connection):
We started Cultural Connection of Boston in September of 2001. Our mission is to reach out to international graduate students, scholars, and their spouses with the love of Christ.
We focus on graduate students from Boston University’s main campus and Harvard Medical School, and offer:
• A weekly Cultural Connection class: American studies (history, culture, idioms & phrases, literature, government, sports, etc.); Other cultural values; Student’s presentations; Short Bible study; Arts & crafts; Children’s Ministry; Current events, etc.
• Friendship Partner Program - Matching international friends with American partners. This fosters community involvement in the Cultural Connection Ministry.
• Hospitality Ministry at home: Thanksgiving dinner; Christmas celebration; Movie night; Pizza/Birthday parties.
• Investigative Bible Study – more in-depth Bible study for individuals who are serious seekers.
• Trips & Activities – monthly excursions and sports activities to strengthen friendships, and to give opportunities to share the Gospel to individual students during the trips.
• Monthly International Night – another opportunity to invite nonbelievers to participate in a cultural celebration with us through: Food & fellowship; Gospel presentations; Music; Arts & Crafts; Dance; and Birthday celebrations.
We also train Christian students to be ISM (International Student Ministry) workers. Currently we have 6 volunteer Christian student workers and one volunteer staff. We are mentoring one doctorate student and volunteer staff. Since 2001 we have had the privilege of witnessing ten or more international students come to the saving knowledge of Christ Jesus through our ministry and have seen a remarkable transformation in some of their lives.

• Open doors for more international students to hear the message of Christ’s love.
• Boldness and clarity in sharing the Gospel for us and our volunteers.
• Divine appointments in meeting new students who are thirsty for God.
• Creativity, sensitivity, wisdom and guidance in ministry/outreach.
• Financial and prayer support partners to join us, and our volunteer students.
• Protection from the evil one.
• Favor from God, leaders, students, etc.
• Joy and unity of the Spirit among our volunteer workers as we serve the nations for Christ in the Fenway area.
